 |
| Difficult
to get a clear photograph of this historic aircraft due to the tight space
around each exhibit. A TEAL Solent flying boat in beautiful condition, you
can look in the windows and see each section as it was used in service. |
This photographs
demonstrates the number of aircraft crammed into this relatively small hangar
at the MoAT Museum, Auckland. The Solent in rear, CAC Ceres, tail fin of
Lancaster and the back of a Vampire. |
 |
 |
| Stewart speaking
with guide who was on the first flying boat to NZ as the 'expert' on the
auto pilot - very new in those days. See the Lancaster on right of photo
in background. |
Photograph
display detailing the restoration of this historic aircraft. This was a
major undertaking and we were delighted to see the results. For most of
us seeing our first flying boat. |
 |
 |
| The sad Sunderland
is waiting for her restoration to begin. She needs to be under cover for
protection from the weather. |
Front view
of the Sunderland makes one realise how big it is. This will be a huge project
for the enthusiasts to restore. |
 |
 |
| Lodestar transport
aircraft awaiting restoration and a place in the new larger hangar at MoAT.
Other projects are underway in the hangar behind the aircraft (like HARS
old Qantas hangar at Mascot!). We wish them well in their work. |

the cockpit of the PC-12 and the funny light reflecting off the snow capped
mountains of NZ's south island mountain ranges. |
