HARS is a volunteer group established to fund the collection, restoration and operation of aircraft that have played a major part in the development of Australian aviation.

The HARS fleet includes Super Constellation 'Southern Preservation', two Lockheed P2V Neptunes, two Douglas C-47 Dakotas, a Douglas DC-4, de Havilland Drover, Convair 340-67 airliner, a Consolidated Catalina, two de Havilland Vampires, Bell AH-1P Huey Cobra, Cessna 310, Cessna 180, Tiger Moth, Winjeels and others.

The current major concern for HARS is the construction of its BHP Australian Historical Flying Museum buildings to house its growing aircraft collection. The public's assistance with funding for this worthy project is urgently needed and all donations are fully tax deductible in Australia.

HARS flying aircraft are now based at Albion Park Rail at the Illawarra Regional Airport. It is in the process of building hangars and a museum to bring everything together under the one roof - please help it achieve this goal. Hangars one, two and three are up; that is all three external walls but no hangar doors. The doors are necessary to keep out the westerly winds which do so much damage. There is much still to be done...and your assistance is needed!

The museum and hangar complex is open to the public seven days a week from 9.30am to 3.30pm. Guided tours are available daily and bookings are taken for bus and other large tour groups. Ring 0422 278 502 for these bookings. You will certainly enjoy your visit.

Join HARS Aussie Connie Supporters - $38.50/year which gives you the HARS quarterly magazine (Phoenix) and the chance to join in special events and become part of a very special group of people.

HARS NEWS
So much is happening with the HARS Fleet. Most aircraft will take part in the Nowra Air Show on 30 October. Both DAKs will take part in a flight to South Australia next month. The Connie is taking part in Qantas celebrations in Brisbane this week along with the Boeing 707 of John Travolta. The Catalina is undergoing her 100 hourly inspection and needs some corosion damage removed. The Cessna 310 had a generator failure on Friday during a flight test - everything okay and repaired on Saturday.

HARS gratefully acknowledges the donation of a Neptune (been sitting at Archerfield for years, ex RAAF A89-281) by the Western Australian based Aerocorp to be used for parts. This aircraft is being reassembled at Albion Park for static display. It was the last Neptune in RAAF service so it is very important.
